Far Northern scene chosen for Monoploy game

AN idyllic hammock scene on Palm Cove beach has been chosen to feature on Monopoly’s new Australian board game.

The image is one of just three Queensland scenes for a coveted “green” spot on the famous board game. The others are the white sands of Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays and a surfer on the Gold Coast.

Monopoly Australia describes the hammock photograph as: “The steamy tropical north is packed with plenty of bucket list material. Dive into the Great Barrier Reef one day. Zip line through the Daintree Rainforest the next”.

In November last year Far Northern residents were asked to vote for the region to appear on the board game.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland chairman Max Shepherd said the publicity would be invaluable.

“Securing a spot on a board game with such broad appeal as Monopoly would be priceless marketing for Tropical North Queensland, encouraging more visitors to want to come to our destination,” he said.

“Sharing our Reef, rainforest and hospitality with the world is what this region does best, so let’s make sure Tropical North Queensland gets the recognition it deserves.”
